Launch of VITAL thin client

With the BETA stage of our VITAL ‘thin client’ solution currently underway, the feedback from trial customers has been good. Clients authenticate through an Internet browser and are then given access to a ‘virtual’ desktop. The virtual desktop includes access to Microsoft Office 2007 over the Internet as well as a connection to company network drives and email. This service is aimed at companies that have small satellite offices, where they want to minimise the capital spend on IT and have very short timeframes to implement. VITAL thin client is also a remote access solution for VITAL, allowing users to access corporate data when away from the office. The solution also enhances data security as users leave nothing behind e.g. working in an Internet cafe. The service is due to go live July of this year

MBD's new Layer 3 VPN service

Remote access to company servers using a managed laptop has just got easier and more secure, through the release of our new Layer 3 VPN service. Based on the Secure Socket Layer(SSL) protocol, the solution gives remote VITAL laptop users an effective and reliable means of creating a connection back to their offices. The service is underpinned by redundant Array Network boxes integrated into the VITAL network at the datacentre and does not require any software on the client’s laptop to make the connection. The lower support overhead, whilst undeniably good for us, is very good for you too!

MBD leads the way in managed mail services

MBD Solutions has successfully delivered to the marketplace an upgraded managed mail service based on Microsoft Exchange 2007. While the vast majority of other hosted exchange providers are still providing services on the 2003 platform, MBD has upgraded its service and migrated the existing customer base onto the new platform. With a much enhanced user experience, the platform also gives greater scalability of memory and cache compared to the limitations of 2003. Remote email users also have access to a much improved web outlook service that re-creates the look and feel of the MS Outlook client.

MBD rolls out VITAL Manager to clients

VITAL is the fully managed service enjoyed by clients both in the UK and Internationally. Through VITAL MBD takes full responsibility for our clients IT systems, providing a Corporate style environment to the SME sector.  VITAL Manager allows the main contact person (Single Point of Contact) at each client to manage some of the basic IT functions themselves.  VITAL Manager allows non technical personnel to create new users, change passwords, add / allocate email addresses, and enables clients to help themselves – if they wish.  The choice is theirs and MBD is happy to provide the tools to support those clients wishing to take a more active role in their IT environment, without the need to have specialist skills or training.  This is another step towards VITAL providing the complete IT support environment to start ups, growing companies and multi office organisations. MBD obtains 82% of business through referrals

MBD offers free audit

With Microsoft sending out investigators to check software licences at UK businesses, MBD is pleased to offer London based companies a free hardware and software audit.  Ensure that your company is not on the wrong side of the law.  Microsoft will take court proceedings and seek penalties from organisations that are not correctly licenced.  After investigations in a test campaign in Glasgow 12 companies were forced to pay Microsoft up to £75,000 each!  You may not know what has been loaded onto your PCs and laptops so call us now or email freeaudit@mbdsolutions.com and let us help you to stay legal.

MBD is delighted to announce that we have recently achieved Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status.  This follows on from becoming a Microsoft Small Business Specialist and many years as a Microsoft Certified Partner and demonstrates our commitment to and excellence in providing quality Microsoft based solutions to our clients.  MBD has reached the status of Gold Certified Partner for Advanced Network Infrastructures by demonstrating increased levels of developer certification, deep real-world experience, and by providing completed customer reference projects that were independently verified by Microsoft.

Vital adds VSS free of charge. Simple and fast recovery of data through VITAL!

It’s all too easy to delete or overwrite an important file or folder.  More than 90% of data restore requests are for recent data loss.  Traditionally, recovering this data would require the intervention of a member of technical staff to perform a restore of the file from the system backup.  This process could be lengthy if backup tapes had to be called down from storage.
 
A solution to this problem has been built into our standard VITAL service, Windows Server 2003 Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS), which works by taking regular snapshots of your work and stores the information on your site server. MBD has installed this add on piece of software into the VITAL Service which allows you to immediately restore both deleted files and folders from the snapshots stored on your server. It is fast and easy to use and saves time when critical data is accidentally lost.  This is another example of how the innovative design of the VITAL service benefits its customers – one change made centrally can benefit many and often, as in this case, at no additional cost.  If this sounds too good to be true, please call us for more details.
